That no IT personnel are involved in the operation of Mainpac's asset and maintenance management software at Golden Bay Cement is not a corporate policy for New Zealand's largest cement manufacturer. But it is a reality for Paul Martin who, as information systems manager, has no IT staff reporting to him.
Despite the absence of IT people Mr Martin and a group of operations staff at the company's Portland plant in Northland now gather significant amounts of data from improved asset and maintenance management practices.
